“There he lay, a vast red-golden dragon, fast asleep; thrumming came from his jaws and nostrils, and wisps of smoke, but his fires were low in slumber.”

It’s a holiday in Canada today.  The holiday is called “Victoria Day”, in honour of the birth of some lady back in the early 19th C.  Not sure who though.  I think she was an assistant to the Prime Minister of England or something.  She married a German…and had a whole bunch of children.  I do know that!

Yes.  I am kidding.  I DO know who Victoria was.  :D

Anyhoo:  here is my 2007 Custom Shop ‘62 Relic Strat.  It has been in its case for a while now as I have been busy lately with my many Gibsons.  But today it will get a new set of strings and a full set up!

I love holidays.

  9. 1994 3/4 sized Mini Strat, Red.  Made in Mexico, but NOT a Squier.  It says Fender on the headstock in the late 80s/early 90s silver logo.
  10. 2003 3/4 sized Mini Strat, also red, but with rosewood fret board.  This one also says Fender on the headstock and is more like a full size Strat in that it has the 3 knobs, 3 ply pick guard and string-through body like on a real hardtail Strat!.  Made in Mexico,

PS: I didn’t realize that so MANY of my Strats are red!

40 Years of Disruptions

Virgin Records broke all the rules when they released Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells. No-one else wanted this hard-to-define album. And then it stayed in the charts for 279 weeks and has gone on to sell nearly four million copies.

That was 40 years ago. Since then, Virgin Records have continued to break the rules, releasing mould-shattering albums and promoting musicians that other labels were afraid to handle.

When it came to marking their 40th birthday, Virgin Records asked TiRA to come up with a theme, and then roll it out across the anniversary gigs, book, exhibition and fundraisers. We focused on the idea of disruption, which is at the heart of the Virgin philosophy. True to that, Virgin let us – and many of their artists - loose on their logo.
